after the EAMSC, '07

Words from Mark, GM of group 3

I can still recall the tense moments of the interview for the group moderators; the exhausted body and mind, after a full day of training; the suffering I had gone through, preparing and memorizing the materials for introducing sanatorium and Chang-Gung hospital.

I can also recall the fun time we had at the ice-breaking, in which both the GMs but none the delegates got punish in the game of concentration; the fascinating culture night, where delegates from all the countries bring on their best shows; the group performance which we sang the song of Doraemon; and the last night of conference when we made a circle and express our feeling about the past few days.

It was my first time attending EAMSC, and the first time attending the activity hold by AMSA-Taiwan. For the rare chance to meet medical students from other countries, I tryout the interview, and luckily I successfully became one of the GMs. Although I passed the test, there was still a time when I was lack of confidence and nervous: Will my poor English sufficient to bring the delegates a wonderful time in Taiwan? Will I be able to chat with delegates from different countries and cultures? These questions are still stirring in my mind now, after the conference, but I would never regret the decision I made, for I had met you, my dearest group members and fellow group moderators.

Iris and Jerry from Hong Kong, who are smart and fun; Deeta and Amy from Indonesia, who are cute and full of passion; Deryl from Indonesia and Adrian from Malaysia, who are cool and funny all the time; Hiroki from Japan, who bring the most laughter to the group; Kate and Jenny from Korea, elegant but fun; Cherry and Tsan, who didn’t speak much and friendly and warm; Alice and Ruby from Taiwan, who kindly help me with the group during the conference. Of course, Jasmine, my dear GM partner, who is pretty but thinking of food all the time, gave me a lot of help through the whole conference.

I sincerely thank all of you, all delegates, GMs, LCs, and the OCs. It is the cooperation and hard work of yours that had created this unforgettable conference. And I also gratefully thank the fate, which had brought all of us together. What are the odds, for over 6 billion people around the world, we met each other in these beautiful island.

Maybe we won’t meet each others again, and maybe we’ll lose contact in the future. But we shall always be friends, and I shall keep this precious memory close to my heart, forever and ever.
